A personal blog, named in honor of the novel Petticoat Government by a favorite author, Emma Orczy. The novel is about a fictional woman, Lydie d'Aumont, who attempts to inject some fairness and good governance into the court of France's Louis XVth despite the corruption and selfishness there.

Haven't I seen this movie before?
Jumpsuits, no children, healthy adults in a post-apocalyptic world...and then a man and woman break out and run and run and run. Was I watching Logan's Run? Nope, it was The Island. Much better special effects and action scenes. The makers of The Island must have been aware of the similarities because they named Ewan McGregor's character's boat "Renovatio", which means "rebirth" or "renewal". If you've ever watched Logan's Run, then you probably have shouts of "Renew!" going through your head right now.
