A personal blog, named in honor of the novel Petticoat Government by a favorite author, Emma Orczy. The novel is about a fictional woman, Lydie d'Aumont, who attempts to inject some fairness and good governance into the court of France's Louis XVth despite the corruption and selfishness there.

That silly socialization worry
I went for a little walk this afternoon and happened to wend my way in front of a public middle school that is known for being a little more selective than average because it hosts the International Baccalaureate program. As I observed some youth after school, I was intrigued to witness how well they've been socialized. First, there were the two young men competing with each other at spitting in the direction of a young lady they were trying to impress. Then there was the girl who commented on my clothing in a rude tone as I passed her and her friends. Hmm, that's some really great socialization there. Just what I want for my children....
