A personal blog, named in honor of the novel Petticoat Government by a favorite author, Emma Orczy. The novel is about a fictional woman, Lydie d'Aumont, who attempts to inject some fairness and good governance into the court of France's Louis XVth despite the corruption and selfishness there.

Disgust with the NYT
The New York Times is often held up as the great American print news source. Blah. It has a clear liberal bias, reveals national security secrets (but only if they'll hurt Republicans), and leaves out important news that should be covered but they'd prefer not to (e.g., nationwide grass-roots level Tea Party protests on April 15th). I wouldn't even subscribe to it if they gave it to me for free now. I'm worried by how many of my former government colleagues think they have a clear picture of events just because they read and parrot the NY Times.
