Quantum spin fluids are an advance that can put new quantum physics technology inside a water bottle or a liquid pesticide.
See https://www.nature.com/articles/srep37925:
Large anisotropic exchange in 5d and 4d oxides and halides open the door to new types of magnetic ground states and excitations, inconceivable a decade ago. A prominent case is the Kitaev spin liquid, host of remarkable properties such as protection of quantum information and the emergence of Majorana fermions. Here we discuss the promise for spin-liquid behavior in the 4d5 honeycomb halide α-RuCl3.

I have noted an increase in tasty almond butter creations in stores in the past decade or so, and almond consumption has been going up in the USA. California is where all those almonds are grown.
Thirty-five years ago, I visited an uncle who had his own small almond farm in central California. He didn't get rich doing it, but I always thought that it was cool.
According to one website, five pesticides are used on almonds in California:
Ziram, Oryzalin, Glyphosate, Paraquat Dichloride, and Clarified Hydrochloric extract

Clarified hydrochloric extract? Why does HCl need clarification? Does clarified hydrochloric extract sometimes contain 4d5 honeycomb halide α-RuCl3 or a similar halide?
Pesticides have often inspired distrust in many people, yet it would still make sense to use them to introduce quantum-information-using advances in unsuspecting consumers. It's just so hard for farmers to make a profit without pesticides.
Nature is rather variable, but farmers must all buy their chemicals from the same big companies. Putting a quantum spin fluid in an almond pesticide could be a very effective way to get our entire country to ingest the fluid.
How I would like to have resources to investigate intriguing possibilities like the above!
