Misogyny in secret combinations

Lots of groups have secrets. Many men have misogynistic attitudes in some areas.

But how many secret-keeping groups have scriptures warning them to leave women unaware and out of the secrets due to female tendencies to snitch, i.e, tattletale, i.e. talk about secrets?

The Pearl of Great Price, a book of scripture of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, tells of ancient "secret combinations" maintained to help people cover up their crimes and sins.

For, from the days of Cain, there was a secret combination, and their works were in the dark, and they knew every man his brother.

- Moses 5:51

It further indicates that women revealed the secrets of the ancient groups.

And among the daughters of men these things were not spoken, because that Lamech had spoken the secret unto his wives, and they rebelled against him, and declared these things abroad, and had not compassion;

 - Moses 5:53, Pearl of Great Price

A takeaway from those verses is that women should be kept unaware of secret combinations in order to maintain secrecy.

I have an ecclesiastical leader who used to be in the military, which is a huge organization with lots of secrets. When told about concrete indications of secretive groups in the LDS church, he smoothly repeated that he hasn't heard of such things and didn't know what to say. He doesn't appear to have investigated the issue despite having accepted a call to be a spiritual shepherd to hundreds of people. I found it interesting that he also made a point of saying that his wife was better than he was as if he were proud of being her inferior on matters of character.

Here's what I think could be happening: Some LDS men like the pro-prosperity culture and healthful lifestyle they grew up in enough to stay active in their church while dissembling about their real beliefs and possibly even hiding naughty behavior from their own wives. After all, the LDS scriptures above basically warn "secret combinations" to keep women in the dark. Is it wrong to think that some people take that warning seriously?
