A Reluctantly Negative Review

I love Gary Cooper in Sergeant York, I always enjoy Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life, and I was intrigued a few years back by the trailers for the Adam Sandler movie, Mr. Deeds. So, I was happy to discover Frank Capra's Mr. Deeds Goes to Town at the library recently. Gary Cooper plays the title role, a small town nice guy who inherits a fortune. With all the movie had going for it, it sadly turned out to be boring in parts and just not that fun to watch. I didn't care for the pacing, and the happy ending of the romance was too fast to be credible. Still, I'd rather have spent part of an evening on this movie then on filling my head with Sandler movie humor. (How's that for faint praise?)
