Try contributing on a more local level first...

Val Kilmer is thinking of running for governor of New Mexico. He said,
"I'm just looking for ways to be contributive," Kilmer told The Associated Press on Thursday. "And if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I'll run."
This is the guy whose most memorable characteristic--to me and my dh, at least--is his propensity to get in at least one French kiss in every movie. And his only "elected office" to date is as a King of Bacchus at Mardi Gras. I really think the guy should start a little smaller than governor in his efforts to be "contributive"...try city council, school board, state legislature, even community organizer first.
